Also known as Maundy Thursday, the day before the Crucifixion, Jesus ate with His disciples and prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.
After directing His followers to the room that was prepared for the Passover, He met with them and had His last meal. Not just any meal, His Last Supper. Here He established the Eucharist or Communion. He taught them that when they ate the bread and drank the wine they should remember Him. Following the meal, He humbled Himself and washed their feet.
When Jesus finished doing these things, He commanded them to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. John 15:8-17 Jesus told the disciples to glorifiy the Father by bearing fruit and abiding in His love. And in verse 12 He commanded them that they should LOVE ONE ANOTHER as He loved them. This was His final command. He not only commanded us to LOVE, He demonstrated it.
Greater love hath no man that this. that a man lay down His life for His friends.
