Sunday September 1

Sharing with you our Scripture reading for Sunday is important to me because I want to give you all an opportunity to read ahead and be prepared for what the Holy Spirit wants to teach us. This week's reading really has a strong theme and I love it when the LORD puts all the pieces together. Matthew 17:14-18:14, Mark 9:34-50, Luke 9:46-50. It's Jesus' longest discourse on CHILDREN. Many of us are involved with kids on some level, whether a teacher, parent, grandparent, aunt, or neighbor. There are kids everywhere. What are Jesus' teachings and feelings about kids and how should we follow them?

Our scripture reading this week will be in the book of Acts, often referred to as the Acts of the Holy Spirit. The church has been birthed out of the upper room and through the preaching of Peter, the one who denied Jesus, thousands have heard the Gospel message, Jesus was crucified, buied, and resurrected! Peter's bold messages have led the congregation to sell possessions and help those in need. Many, including Barnabas, gave money to the apostles to be distributed. Ananias and Sapphira also sold a piece of property, only their outcome was not what was expected and struck fear in all who heard of it. There's alot to consider in this portion of Scripture. Read Acts 4:32-5:11 and we will reason together what this could mean.

August 18th Recap

Yesterday's Scripture reading of Matthew 17 really made me aware of two ways that we see Jesus: We want to put Him in a box (temple or tent) and manage Him so we can have Him close by when we need Him We know Him as the Omniscient and Omnipresent WORD who changes us and when we encounter Him, we fall on our faces as a dead men The Transfiguration was Jesus' message to Peter, James, and John that the Law and the Prophets have been replaced with Grace and Truth. The Father's pleasure with the Son and the covering of the Spirit displayed the unity of the Godhead! What a beautiful sight it must have been. And to think, they almost slept through it!!

My prayer for you is that you will be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God Col 1:9-10

Sunday, August 18

Sunday's lesson is a doozy! Jesus takes His closest friends to the top of a mountain. Peter, James, and John witness Jesus' glorified body, the Moses and Elijah, and the Father and Holy Spirit. What an event!!! Yet, His disciples fell asleep before the main event! In this world we have lots of circumstances that will lull us to sleep and we will miss The Father's greatest gift, His Son! We must be vigilant, on guard, ready, and equipped so that we can enjoy His blessings! The Scripture this week is Matthew 17:1-8 Mark 9:2-8 Luke 9:28-36 Sunday's coming and I can not wait to open the Word with you!
