March 31, 2026 Holy Tuesday

Jesus' journey to the cross is filled with many teaching moments. None greater or more often quoted than the Olivet Discourse.  In Matthew 24:3, He sat on the Mount of Olives, His disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”  His answer to this question is a prophecy to the nation and tells them of the Great Tribulation.  He warns them to stay alert, be ready, take heed, watch!!!

After His warnings and instructions, in Matthew 25:31 He says “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him." Jesus and His angels will come and He will judge from His Throne!  How will He judge?  Based on how we treated the least of these.  Jesus says,  ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Did we offer a drink to the thirsty, food to the hungry? Did we clothe the naked?  Did we visit the sick or imprisoned?  Did we take in the stranger?  Jesus will judge based on how we treat those around us.  Did I help meet the physical needs of the least around me?   We are to care for those that Jesus died for.

Jesus, The Righteous Judge, is days away from crucifixion and death.  He knows that His sacrifice will meet the spiritual needs of the least!  His death, burial, and resurrection gives meat to the hungry,  it gives drink to the thirsty, it clothes the naked, it comforts the sick and imprisoned, it welcomes the stranger.  He cared for and met the needs of the least.

We were the least. We were hungry, thirsty, naked, sick, strangers and He died for us!
